I haven't been able to actually use such device, I am wondering how does it determine if you are timing in or timing out or if one is timing in in the morning or afternoon? Does one presses a button or does it rely on its clock?
TIA

I had work on time attendance system in past using RFID and biometric machine.... machine just act as a date-time dumping device (it has in built in memory) and it just record the EmpId and DateTime at which one swap the finger or shows RFID card to the reader.......... the attenance software do the rest of the logical calculation...like fetching the Data from Machine into Database.....shift Calculation/Maintainance..etc......all the ODD swap considered as IN and all the even swap considered as OUT entry....and normally the First In and Last Out (falling withing Emp. Shift timing) is taken as Final IN and Final OUT to calculate the working hour......
This is just a guess, but it could have info of all the people logged in into all rooms. It starts with the rooms being empty. When you first log in it will put you "in" that room. When you read in next, it will assume you are leaving, since you were in the room. And so on. The other, more expensive way as it requires more hardware would be to have readers on both sides of a door, so if you scan on the outside it knows you're going in and vice versa. And maybe it's a combination of both. These are just some ideas of the top of my head.
