custom build
hi, sorry you probably get a lot of peeps asking about custom builds but this is what I am doing and just need some confirmation on some things before i go and spend the money :thumb:
So here is the list I have:
Viewsonic VA2014W 51 cm (20") LCD Monitor
Logitech K120 Keyboard
Logitech B110 USB optical mouse
LG GH22NS70 22x DVD+/-RW SATA Black - OEM
Samsung Spin Point F3 SATAII 1TB 32MB Cache Hard Drive <8.9ms 7200rpm - OEM
Novatech 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz Single Channel Kit (x2)
Asus P8Z68-V LX Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) Motherboard
Intel Core i5 2400 3.1GHz (Sandy Bridge) Socket LGA1155 - Retail.
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 550 Ti OC 1024MB GDDR5
Novatech PowerStation Gaming 500W Silent ATX2 Modular Power Supply
So my questions are:
1) will all these bits work happily together
2) what sort of case would you recommend
3) is there anything I have missed
4) if possible is there anything I have overlooked that I could have got better and cheaper
thanks in advanced to anyone who helps :):thumb:

Re: custom build
1) Yes, the components should work fine just from glancing at the list and not doing any research
2) Mid sized ATX // Depends on your preferences
3) I don't see anything obvious... maybe some good thermal paste and a heatsink for that CPU
4) Can't comment on price here, you didn't list any. I would always recommend the most amount of RAM you can afford. Nice job on the SB CPU though. Most people miss that.

Re: custom build
What OS are you planning on using for this new build? If you're using the GeForce GTX 550, don't get Z68 motherboard. Those Z68 boards have video ports for the Intel HD3000 of your i5 2400 CPU which you will not be using. Get a P67 motherboard instead, they're cheaper. The RAM is on slow side. Get faster RAM if you can. Also consider an SSD for the OS and use your HDD for data.
For the keyboard and mouse, get a bundle set instead of 2 separate devices. That way, you only use up 1 USB port.

Re: custom build
sorry to be replying late just been quite busy.
TY for the advice
when you say the p67 mother board do you mean the:
Gigabyte GA-P67A-D3-B3 Intel P67 (Socket 1155) Motherboard
this is the only one I could find that was cheaper.
and for the SSD I have found this:
OCZ Agility 3 SATA III 2.5" 60GB Solid State Hard Drive
working along side the original hard drive??
and as for the RAM what would you go for in terms of speed/price and amount

Re: custom build
You are obviously using Novatech to buy through, just buy one of their bundles as they are all built and checked working together (and often cheaper to boot).
