How about some McNuggets as well?
I have a few nuggets. In fact, I'm full of it.
"Instant on" doesn't mean "instant bright."
I had my first encounter with a CFL (compact flourescent lamp)
the other day, and it was initially a disappointing experience.
Unlike an incandescent 100 watt bulb that goes "instant bright",
the 23-watt CFL was about 1/2 intensity for a good 2 minutes.
Once it warmed up, it got as bright as a 100-watt incandescent bulb.
But the most prominent words on the package ("instant on")
were surely only a 1/2-truth. They conveniently deflectied one's
attention from consideration that there could be another issue of
concern, namely the protracted period of time required for full
brightness to be reached.
