I've heard it isn't as wonderful as the marketing would have one believe.
How it works:

I've seen one close up. It's pretty awesome you can stick your hand through a fan.
If they weren't so darn expensive I'd buy one.
By the way, are they more efficient on energy?
So....a fan creates a bunch of distinct pulses of air that maintain themselves in strange shapes for a meter or so out from the fan, but this thing creates a laminar flow? Frankly, I don't believe either claim.
really, just now hearing about this? Been around for a couple years now... and infact, checking the posted date of the linked youtube vid shows almost two years ago to the day...

Let's see, 4.99$ desk fan from walmart which keeps me cool or 299$* Air multiplier from dyson which looks neat and keeps me cool.
Hmmm, I think I'll save the 295$* bucks and forgo a neat looking device. I do like the airblade things they started putting in public restrooms though.
*not sure on actual price but man is Dyson stuff pricey
I wouldn't consider one here at the office... at home though, it would be nice to be able to watch TV or a movie w/o having to compete against the noisier fan.

I read a review that said it isn't quiet, just makes a different sound that may be more annoying than a conventional fan's.
It's a jet (well sorta) so what would you expect? It's got to make some noise. :)
But that is pretty awesome device. A body of mine has one; i'm thinking of buying one myself.
http://www.dyson.com/fans/ sounds great. But does it really "sound" good ? :D
They actually are pretty quiet... they are not completely noiseless... clearly, since there is a motor and an an air propulsion mechanism, there is some sound... but it's more like the sound the water pump on an aquarium makes... sort of a whirring noise I guess. It's low key and not as abrasive as a regular fan.

Gives a whole new meaning to the term: when sh.. hits the fan.
P.S: Going by thread title, did anyone else think it was going to be about World of Warcraft??
No, I actually expected some god-awful hand wringing over fooootbal.
Guys, don't hijack my thread. If you want to talk about "WOW: World of Warcrafts", create your own thread. I created this thread to talk about "WOW Fans". Don't deviate it. :D
just kidding :p
So did you buy one yet and try it out?
I hear they can cure warts and keep the elephants away too.
Or dip it in soapy water and blow big bubbles, hmm?
Cool! :D
