Anyone starting to learn web development should take a read of this and understand that W3Schools is not a good place to be learning web development techniques.
NB: I am not affiliated in any way with this site. I just think that w3schools is an inaccurate resource of information and should not be used as a first-point reference.
Good find! I should have thought that the address would have4 been something like that. Yeah, W3school is not a good source for learning web development techniques, I think the people that run the site might be hobbyists rather than actual developers. Although, I can't really complain because I have some shocking practices too.

It's not the best site there is, but I don't think it deserves much hate either.
Interesting read, found myself nearly half way down the examples.
That Sitepoint looks good, unfortunetly W3Schools has such good search engine ratings its too easy to get straight to the page you want using google. Will definitly try to give site point a go.
I've been using https://developer.mozilla.org/ for most of the references. It's only downside is the lack of a good colour palette reference, so I use this site from Paul Irish.
W3School website is nice site. I learn HTML, JavaScript So easily.
The W3schools' examples and tutorials are over simplified thus missing the point. They mentioned at the footer of their home page what they do and how they do it. The content of their site are helpful but for absolute beginners.
