For reliability, nothing surpasses Intel $$D.
For the cheap, Kingston is the king.
If you want both fast AND reliable, it's going to cost you money: the Intel SSD 510 series is a good candidate.
If you have sata3 in your system, both ocz vertex3 and crucial realssd c300 series get pretty high ratings on performance but since they are new products we don't know how reliable they are though.
My brother just got a Patriot Inferno (SandForce controller) and loves it.
I bought and received an OCZ Vertex3 this monday. So far it has been performing extremely well.
I approve.
I got the Vertex 3's cousin, the Corsair Force 3.
It's not much faster than the Vertex 2 I had and I've been getting KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE blue screens when the system is idle. All signs point to a power management bug in the Sandforce controller firmware.
Not impressed.
The Vertex 3 is supposed to suffer from this too, by the way.
Intel's 510 was my first pick but they're five times the price of the Sandforce 3 drives...!
These 2 use the same Marvell controller as the Intel 510, and the price is pretty sweet:
