Nintendo Program

I have very basic skill with vb6 and i cant not figure out how to open a .smc file!

Im am building a nintendo that play disc based nintendo games and i need a start up program. I want to burn a disc with say super mario.smc
At the menu i want to be able to click The option Super nintendo and boot the .smc file from the disc drive. I Set the smc file to open with the emulator so it will go straight to the game. I can open the emulator but when i put the code and change location to the rom/smc file it wont work......Grrrr please help!
