I'm pretty sure you could simply use XML serialization : check here and here
Do I need to make the class serializeable first?
I don't think you need to if you use the XMLSerializer. If you used the BinaryFormater though, then you'd make your classes serializable. I'm no expert though so don't thrust me 100% on this, give a read to the documentation first :p.
