IE8 - I said don't remember password but changed my mind!
I am testing a website so I am logging in to it a lot! And my id is kind of long as it is my email address. I must've said don't remember my credentials the first time because I have to re-enter it every time. Can anyone direct me to the sure thing - I've googled how to "reset" my answer and seen things like editing the registry, which is fine, but then in the feedback section there's comments of how it didn't work. Since I trust vbforums I thought I'd ask here.
System Info - Windows XP Pro Version 2002 SP 3
IE - 8
Thanks.

This is from IE7. I'm not sure if they have removed it in IE8, or have changed the place of this option.
1. Click Tools > Options menu.
2. Click Content tab.
3. Click Settings button.
4. Check the 3rd and 4th checkboxes.

Re: IE8 - I said don't remember password but changed my mind!
Not sure if this will actually work but it might be worth the try:
Tools-->Internet Options-->Content(tab)-->AutoComplete(section)-->Settings(button)
There you can delete the Autocomplete History, and don't forget to select the passwords checkbox. Now that will also clear all the other passwords you saved :S
Edit: There's also two checkboxes to allow prompting for saving passwords. For some strange reason though mine are grayed out. On another note, I use KeePass to save all my passwords. basically it saves your password in an encrypted file so you only really need to remember the password for the file instead of all your passwords. A double click puts the password in your clipboard and it gets deleted after a certain amonut of time that you can customize. You can also take the file with you everywhere you go. And its free, so it might be an alternative.
Re: IE8 - I said don't remember password but changed my mind!
I think what you've both directed me to is not an "after-the-fact" solution. I've already run the website, said no don't remember, and now I want it to remember. My options in those Settings are both checked, so it will remember new websites I visit and say "remember". Maybe if I delete history it will start prompting me to remember again, but I'd like to know it won't erase the ones that are already remembered.
Re: IE8 - I said don't remember password but changed my mind!
Yeah, I also think it would delete it all.

And I'd be in the same situation with those websites (that are remembering) as I have with the one website that is not remembering? Or would I get prompted again as if it were the first time? I wouldn't mind that.
Re: IE8 - I said don't remember password but changed my mind!
I THINK it would prompt you again for the website you already saved password. Its the behavior I would expect, but I did not tested that at all so I strongly suggest to test it on another computer before :)

Yes exactly, its always the best choice. That will teach'em, they'll learn to lock their PC when they're not in front of it.
