mouse is super slow in MS Word
Hey all.
I just upgraded to MS Office 2010 on Friday.
Today I found that Word is making the cursor move really slowly when I move the mouse (and slowing down context menus).
It is only happening in Word, and when I get out of Word, the mouse is fine.
Also, the problem is only over the body of text. When the cursor iso over the menus or toolbars, it's normal.
Another thing it does over the body of text is start dragging (as if I were holding down a shift key). I"m not, and the keys aren't stuck either.
I went to FIle> Options> Add Ins
and the short list are all listed as Microsoft Add-ins, nothing third party. I don't know how to check any further than that.
If I close Word and re-open, it acts normal at first, but quickly starts to drag.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
Re: mouse is super slow in MS Word
Sounds like something could be hogging the system resources. Has the problem just occurred or has it been happening for awhile?
Re: mouse is super slow in MS Word
alt+ctrl+del and check what is eating your memory at the moment you open that. Maybe you got some virus attached to it.
Re: mouse is super slow in MS Word
more info:
I bought and downloaded this from microsoftstore.com, so it probably isn't a virus that came with office
All the other office products are working fine
I opened Word in safe mode and it still has the problem
I closed everything but Word and I didn't see any system resources being used, or spiking when I mouse over text
ANybody who has Office 2010, have I accessed the add-ins and templates correctly.
I have several Adobe products installed, and I remember in my last version of office, there was a whole Adobe toolbar. I haven't seen any third party add-ins or anything in this one.
Re: mouse is super slow in MS Word
final update.
I just did the newbie solution on this one.
Got everything reinstalled yesterday and it's all working again.
I didn't have any kind of virus software installed yet. It was a recent install. I did run a couple of malware apps on it and found a number of suspicious things: key logger, trojans, etc.
I installed McAfee second thing after windows this time around. Maybe that'll prevent it happening again.
Thanks all.
