VB2008 32bit in Win7 64bit - Will it work ?
Hi guys...
My friend bought a new PC with 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 20" LCD, etc...
He is using Windows7 64bit ! And he wants to install VB2008 in that machine.
But the VB2008 version(Express) that I have is of 32bit (x86). Will it work on his machine ?
Thanks...

All versions of VS are 32-bit code themselves. Of course it will work.

Will all other softwares work on his machine ? I mean, all those 32 bit softwares and games ?
He's a bit afraid of his new PC configuration. He had tried installing certain softwares previously (which worked perfectly in XP machines), but it doesn't work on his machine !
Will this be an issue of that 64bit OS ?

I doubt that it's the 64bits that's making the problem.

You can install 32 bit software on a 64 bit machine, (as long as the software is written properly).
You cannot install 64 bit software on a 32 bit machine !
Your friend may experience the odd program not installing properly but generally they should work !!!
He should make sure he gets the most up to date versions of those programs.

I have VB2010 in my PC. But for our mini project, we are supposed(as requested by our tutor) to use VS2008 & SQLServer 2005. Because in our lab we are having that version installed!
And my friend doesn't have the basics on both. He wants to work on VS2008, so that it would make him familiar with that IDE. :)
I have seen a 64bit version of VS. But I think, it is used for the development of 64bit apps, right ?

Update: That didn't worked on his machine :(
While installing, the progressbar reached about 15% and got stuck...! Then showed some errors...
