How to connect access 2010 with Ado :check:

I'd imagine the same as you would connect to previous versions of Access, no?
Here's the forum's FAQs for VB & DBs (ADO) to get you started if you are unfamiliar.

If you are using the new database formats (.ACCDB for example) you'll need the ACE Provider instead of using the Jet Provider. This is offered as a free download by Microsoft.

Good info. Maybe someone may want to make the FAQ more current regarding Access 2010 since Access is a widely-used database format.

Excuse my ingorance, I'm still using Office 97 :eek:
And before I kick out upgrade bucks, I very well may go to Open Office instead

That should work for you. Just be sure to install the 32-bit version, since you can't used the 64-bit version from VB6.

I'm locked at 2003 which I got two copies of for free (gotta love those MSDN Events). Sadly I had tossed the 2003 VSTO CD because it all looked like .Net junk, but it turns out there were COM/native goodies I wish I had now. Doh!

That's not like me, I hardly ever throw out that sort of media but I've searched high and low. Ah well.

I was offered a deal for Office 2010 through work for $10 (plus another $10 for media). I might have to bite on that even though I have no reason to upgrade. Heck of a deal though, and I'll probably never see it that cheap if I ever need it down the road.


Good luck with Open Office. I'm just not sure it supports all of the Automation goodies Office does.
