First day of College/uni on monday
Tomorrow is my first day of college/university! Excitement and nervousness are in the air. Even got myself a campus job. Wish me luck eh?

You now get to spend a few years learning everything you will need to forget when you get a job.
p.s. Do you want good luck or bad luck?

Does every campus in the US have a Police department?

No, im sure all of them have some form of security. But my campus has a full police department that actually can arrest people, conduct investigations, etc. Unlike campus security that can only call the real police.

Re: First day of College/uni on monday
The education is secondary. You will learn things, but then again, you would learn things even if you weren't in school. The difference is that a degree is a pretty effective pry bar for opening doors that would otherwise be closed. That is what you are paying for.

Re: First day of College/uni on monday
Also you're bound to form some kind of network that could be helpful.

Re: First day of College/uni on monday
There is almost some awkwardness to me being in class today. Out of 40,000 people at my school, i am one. Luckily i have the job on campus, and through that job i will on out on campus working, meeting people, etc. So Im really looking forward to that.

^This.
I remember trying to apply for IT jobs a few years ago (right after the dotcom bomb btw). And while I knew enough to get something entry level (help desk, for example), I was consistently told the equivalent of "you need the red key".
Unfortunately, they forgot to tell me how much the red key cost.

Yeah?? Try the private college version. Fortunately, that was twenty years ago, but it still took fifteen years to pay it off.

Amen! Two days into my Freshmen year and several of the classes I could teach (if I had a degree). I also found out that it is mandatory that I take an Intro to PC class. I asked if I could test out and was told no. Can't wait.
Looking back I wish I had just taken a class or two a year. At this point I would have been Dr. Dewayne ;)
