Network or Shared speakers?
Are there any speakers that sit on a network as a resource rather than being plugged into the sound card?
The context is that I have 6 machines and I'd like to play music on the speakers without having to unplug-plug speakers into different machines. Instead, have the speakers sit somewhere and send sound to the speakers and have it play from whatever machine I'm using.
I'm pretty sure they exist, but I just keep finding in-wall speakers, I just want something like normal speakers that go on either side of the monitor (or wireless, something I can move around).
Ideas?

hmmm this
Or just get a receiver?
I doubt you're wanting to spend over $2000... but Polk audio has some solutions for this(in wall)
Another option could be to use FM or AM broadcasts(like those things for cars that plug into the cigarette lighter) and connects to a standard audio mini plug. :thumb:

Re: Network or Shared speakers?
I dont think you could just have speakers on there own as a network resource, as they would have nothing (like an amp or soundcard)to convert the signal.
Maybe i am wrong (can anybody confirm ?)
FireXtol solution would work or an application that sits on 1 PC with your speakers plugged in but is controllable from any.
