[RESOLVED] New ad word weirdness -- it floats !!
JP
Have you noticed this ... double underlined ad words
that appear in code-wrapped boxes do not scroll !!!
Why do you even need to put ad words in code boxes?
Attached images
- upper - "application" in normal location
- lower - scroll down, "application" 'floats'

Neat trick... haven't seen that.
Usual questions apply: OS? Browser?

Re: New ad word weirdness -- it floats !!
TG
Haha .. WinXP, IE7
It needs to be in a scrollable Code box to get the effect.

Yikes
Just noticed.. it gets worse..
Tags appear out of nowhere, and corrupt normal text.
Not good.
Image is from same link.

It seems that these other ad words ...
- ICON
- tooltip
- System Tray
- popup menu
.. appear further down in the Code window, and
are bleeding through.
The only way to find where those words are is
to click on QUOTE on post #2 of that thread.

now that you mention it... I've had posts come up with holes in them... then the adwords light up after the fact... haven't seen them stick though.

Re: New ad word weirdness -- it floats !!
Interesting. This is a third-party ad word solution. We'll report the issues. I'll also bring up some of the standard things (issues) Joe and I keep mentioning everytime they change thie code for thiis....

We think we may have eliminated this.

Re: New ad word weirdness -- it floats !!

Damn, I deleted when you were posting because I though it sounded too confusing and waas probably wrong anyway.

Haha.. don't be ashamed to look wrong! I do it all the time.
Besides, you really freaked me out.
I happened to see your reply as "active" and composed a reply.
When it posted, and I re-entered the room, I saw TG and Brad's posts (same timestamp BTW).
Theirs weren't there when I started, and yours was gone by the time I posted (1 min after theirs)
For a moment, I thought I was losing it ..

It's a pity there isn't a way of seeing who is typing at the same time as you are.

Amen on that, but that is pretty sophistocated stuff, no?
I was, for a while, a Bloomberg subscriber. In addition to
all of their stock charts and stuff, they had PM "rooms"
as well as an on-line message-based help desk. In those
particular windows, you could see if/when the other
party was typing.
But it wasn't a freebie site, like this one is.

Re: [RESOLVED] New ad word weirdness -- it floats !!
I've seen on some forums that when you post, will check for new posts since you last opened the thread, tell you there are new posts, SHOW them to you and put your post in edit mode, in case you want to respond to the new posts... it's a neat feature... but not a trivial one... I've only seen in a couple of forums. Not sure if it was something baked in or part of an addon.

I'm afraid it still happens:

Btw, when you reply there is a Fonts dropdown - text in it is also underlined. It looks like it's way beyond reasonable.

Re: [RESOLVED] New ad word weirdness -- it floats !!
putting in my two cents here, but there are a few forums out there that i don't use at all because of the adwords. They never make sense and they always appear with a mouseover. the problem is they almost always cover something you are trying to see and you have to click a close box to get rid of them. My personal opinion is i would rather put up with banner ads down each side of the page than adwords in the page. It's even putting them in people's custom titles! So far they seem to be behaving themselves to the point they disappear on their own, but who knows what will happen in a different browser.
