Not to blow my own trumpet (toot toot) but it might be time to add a 4000+ item to the tool tips that get displayed when you mouse over someone's reputation bar. :)

Not to blow my own trumpet (toot toot) but it might be time to add a 4000+ item to the tool tips that get displayed when you mouse over someone's reputation bar. :)
But your beyond repute, you cannot go any further, in fact your about to hit an overflow shortly ;)
The only direction from there is down.
@JM: Whoa JM!!!! What a way to celebrate your Birthday :thumb:
@All: I agree with JM.
On a seriously lighter note why not have classifications like this
4000 + <User> seems to be unstoppable!
5000 + <User> gets a copy of Win 8 free of cost ;)
7000 + <User> gets a copy of MS Off 2015 free of cost ;)
9000 + <User> gets a copy of VS 2020 free of cost ;)
10000 + <User> is the uncrowned King/Queen (More Freebies as applicable)
The freebies like the above will definitely motivate rest of the members to help more... :afrog:
JM
EDIT:
In retrospect, this isn't Chit/Chat.
My OP was inappropriate .. self-deleted

@koolsid - because not all of us do it for the rep points (although it makes a nice thank you gift). And some of us already have some of those freebies... now... if the rep points could be converted into cold-hard cash.... then we'd be onto something. ;)

At 5,000 you get a free trial copy of Visual Studio
At 7,000 you get a 90-trail version of Microsoft Office
At 9,000 you get a free upgrade to the next version of Internet Explorer
At 10,000 you get free use of the .NET Mono compiler
Of course, offer is subject to change at any time....
Being serious for half a second -- awarding reputation with real prizes would push towards a means of "cheating the system". Having said that, I have looked into some options and will put it back on my "to do" list to look at this seriously again. Last time I was considering this, it was for contributions done across Internet.com sites.
Brad!
Brad,
Can we get a hint at what those ideas are, sounds interesting...
@JM Congratulations!!
Gary
I should have added that the prizes I mentioned in post 7 need to be found on the web and can be downloaded on your own..... ;) :)
As to what I'm considering..... not yet. :)
Brad
I gotta go with that half a second.
Furthermore, such a "gifting" would, IMHO, be contrary
to the whole spirit of rep -- it is a modest recognition
of help freely given. Don't ruin it by associating it with
anything remotely connected to cash.
I'd vote for no changes.
EDIT:
Except, perhaps, for providing a way to see who "you"
have given rep to (currently it is only possible to see
who has given rep to "you").
Yeah, I know.. I asked about this once before, and
Marty indicated, I believe, that it was a vBulletin
limitation, not a VB Forums oversight. Still, here's
to hoping ...

They type of reward system I'd consider would span across Internet.com's sites. As such, submitting things would be where the most value would come. I don't see offering cash as that opens all kinds of issues. I've tried to push this through in the past and it failed, but I think later this year it might stand a chance.
What I need first is the ability for you to log into one of our sites and have it automatically log you into the rest--- aka, single sign on across Internet.com sites and forums. Wouldn't that be cool.... ;)
Brad!
The one comment or question nobody has asked is....
How did RobDogg actually lose the lead in having the most posts? Shocking :D
Don't people realize that VBForums is more important than family, friends, or work? I thought that was simple common sense ;) :D
I guess I shouldn't have asked Rob if he had a life outside of VBForums. He must have gone out and found one.... :thumb:
Brad!
(and yes, for those that don't get it, I'm joking)
(have I effectively derailed this thread now.... :eek2:
