Datagrid becomes read only with recordset created from SQL server table

In our form created in vb 6.0 I used datagrid.Datasource of datagrid is a recordset from sql server table through ODBC.while executing the program datagrid displays data but it becomes read only as soon it assigns data sourse.The same thing is working fine in the case when back end is MS-Access database. Kindly advice
