Which subscription do you have?
Are you talking about the 2010 version? I think it's labelled 'ultimate'.
Shouldn't the MSDN help files be packaged together with the ISO? >.<
I have both 2005 and 2008 and they include the MSDN help files. This one (2010) doesn't.
I have VS 2010 Ultimate (Trial version) and that has online help.

Up to 2008 you'd be asked to install MSDN after main install was completed but now local install is different.
I don't have access to VS 2010 at the moment so check under Help menu (?) - there should be something like "configure msdn".
I think default source is on-line but you may change it to local - at least I did (btw, it takes some time to re-index search).
VS2003 Pro, VS2005 Pro, VS2008 Pro and VS2010 Ultimate have never come with MSDN on the same cd's/DVD for me, MSDN has always been it's own cd's/DVD. I never download it though as MSDN.com always loads faster and is much more up to date as well as being easier to navigate imho. But it's still a separate install nonetheless.
When you install 2010, on the final screen there is a button to install the help files. As far as I can tell, the files are actually online, and installing them locally is an option that comes up after you press the button.
Or just download the MSDN DVD image from where you downloaded the VS2010 image (both should be provided) and install from there.
VS 2003 was distributed on 6 cd's, one had the prerequisits, 2 of them was VS itself and the last 3 was MSDN. If you downloaded it, you were given the option for the prerquisits on 1 dvd and MSDN on another.
Same for VS2005
VS2008, however I've only seen on DVD and VS 2010 is this way as well.
I said cds/dvd because of VS2003 and 2005...
If I remember correctly VS6 only had 2 cd's for the MSDN stuff! Not sure how many disks were included in that packages altogether I only have VB6 and C++.
That is correct - VS6 had 2 MSDN CDs. But what's that go to do with VS 2010 distribution?
I wasn't aware that MS still uses CD as a distribution media - in the past at least 5 years all I saw was either DVD-in-mail or direct download of ISO image (full product approx size is 2-3 GB) which you can further burn onto DVD media.
I have to say I prefer to open it in a browser rather than in VS, am I bad :(
i had a question for all those folks who downloaded the Ultimate Edition.
Did it come with a copy of Team Foundation server?
Not in mine. But I didn't really look for it
I looked for it and if you visit this link, you'll notice that it lists TFS under "Comprehensive ALM Tools for development teams".
I couldn't find it on the DVD. The other thing that the download was missing is Crystal Reports for VS2010. That's in Beta over at the SAP website. I guess SAP wasn't able to catch up with Microsoft development teams.
I usually go to MSDN Subscribers Download page - after login go to [I think] Dev Tools but I don't know if there is a trial version.
Download the trial and when you get your serial key, simply activate it.
