1. Did you try getting the one from your repository depending on your distro?
2. Opera on Linux does suck. It was worse before that.
3. Opera on Windows is version 10.50. Opera on Linux is 10.10. There has been noticable speed differences between the two
All I can suggest at this point is trying Firefox or Chromium (not Google Chrome, Chromium.)

FireFox runs great on both Windows and Linux, it's the only browser I've ever needed for 7 years now
I am very impressed with Opera 10.50 that runs on Windows. Since I'm not big in using some of the plugins this part isn't much relevant to me so don't bother comparing.
However, so far I am yet to find any site that would not rpoperly render in Opera - they all do!
On the other hand IE8 and FF3.5 (?) both have problems (don't consider IE7 to be even half decent browser - that thing was worst ever). Btw, IE6 managed to render some of those sites correctly.
Opera guys did a fantastic job (at least for Windows) - BRAVO! Blazing fast too.
Wel, I just did :) - if you go to www.edmunds.com and select "new cars" >> "some manufacturer" panel on left side appears somewhere at the bottom.
Hmm... Could be some compatibility settings?
I haven't had any problems with sites not displaying correctly in FireFox since v3.5.1
Currently I'm on v3.6.2 and it's only getting better.
I had a list somewhere so if I won't forget I will post here.
