[RESOLVED] Increase the Maximum PMs that can be send on a single shot
Hi...
Please increase the maximum number for the Private Messages that can be send on a single shot. The present option is 5 (Maximum).
I think, the small quantity is to prevent certain malpractices like sending Ads via PM.
But you should atleast increase the limit(maximum) for powerposters...!

When I want to request for help...!
For example, if I had created a thread for some help and I want to let my friends and contacts (of this forum) to know about this thread (ie. PMing them a link to my thread), I use Private Messages. But I have 30+ friends. So, PMing them is difficult. If the maximum limit is hiked to some more higher value (or even to the total number of contacts for that particular user), it will be helpful....!
Note: By PMing them, the forum sends an email notification about the PM to the respective user. So, the user may be able to see my name(in the email) and he will certainly login to the forum for posting the solution or atleast replying to the PM..!

What you are doing could be considered as spam. Instread, how about creating a social group that consists of you and your freinds?

No.. I am not spamming...!
There are certain members (busy ones. But real gurus). They don't login to the forums daily. So, if I want to ask them for help(for my thread), then I need to ask via their email (some of them even disabled this option). So, I thought PMing is the best way.
My mail account is Gmail. When I login to the forums, I open my gmail inbox in another tab. So, whenever a new PM or reply (to the threads that I have subscribed to) is got, I can see it directly from my gmail(as it will check for email periodically and updates the list of mails in the inbox).

Some of them had even not accepted my Friendship requests...:)(But they are listed in the Friends and Contacts section). So, will they join my group even if I request them...??? ;)

There are members who add something like "I do not answer questions asked by PM" and there are a lot of others who, like me, would prefer not to be asked because we already look for threads that we can (and want to) help with. So basically what you are doing is spam and we would prefer that you didn't send unwanted requests for help.

I am not forcing the people to help me. Just letting them know.
For a previous thread of mine, I had send PM's to most of my contacts. Some of them replied via posting solutions to thread. And some via PM (because, I managed to RESOLVE the topic soon. Some of them had logged in after the thread was solved. So, they send the reason via PM - as a reply to mine!).
But one of them replied that he/she won't accept requests like this. For that person, I send my apologize via PM and thanked for replying. And in the future, I won't send PM to that person.... :wave:

You are obviously not "flooding the Internet" but regardless I'm asking you not to ask for help in that manner, and unless someone overrides me we won't be increasing the PM limit

The idea of the forum is to post publicly and get responses publicly. What you are/were doing is kind of "spam-ish". :)

Would creating a social group get the thread urgent attention though? I usually wait a couple of days before sending out private messages linking to the thread I need answered.

Just an opinion from a regular user: what you suggest is one of main reasons I turned off my PM (only admins and people from my contacts list can send me messages).
How is it that your thread is more urgent than all the others? If everyone starts doing what you want we would wind up with forum spammed by its own members.
But like I said: it's just an opinion from a regular user...

No, you are absolutly right and that was going to be my second argument using PMs that way.
