Has Spring Really Sprung?
I'm not sure even farmers like March. Here's what a rural buddy told me yesterday:
(1) Too early to plow
(2) Cows and steers smell bad
(3) Too cold to smoke meat
(4) Ground's too wet to walk on
(5) Mud's all over the floor in the house
(6) Roads are in a mess
(7) Sun forgot to shine
(8) Mom says I'm not supposed to drink during lent
(9) Kids and grandkids are all driving me nuts
WDYT? :(
Re: Has Spring Really Sprung?
I live on a farm here in Michigan and we don't have anything like that happening on any of the surrounding farms. This is the season where we tune up the equipment and fix up our driveways (while the ground is still soft). Just today I pulled the stone out of my yard and put it back in my driveway.
A month from now I'll be out in the fields w/ my 6yr old son :D
Re: Has Spring Really Sprung?
I was out dirt biking in cow country last week and I can personally confirm #2 and #4. Got stopped by a cop on the way home who thought I had no tail light or license plate. Turns out they were just covered in mud.
Re: Has Spring Really Sprung?
Well, my fears are hereby confirmed:
(A) 3" of fresh snow on the ground
(B) wind chill to hit 5 F tonight
(C) pin oak trees still carry some leaves from last fall
(D) roaring fire ablaze in my wood stove
So much for spring, 2010.

Really? Here in Michigan we were supposed to get snow but it was just rain cause it'd too warm for snow. Spring is here pretty early for us this year.
Re: Has Spring Really Sprung?
It's been bucketting down here. I'm supposed to be going to Fountaineblue next week for a climbing holiday and the weather's not predicted to change so that sucks  (In case it's not obvious, climbing in the rain is not a good idea). Still, we'll be less than an hour from Paris so I should be able to find something to do.
Re: Has Spring Really Sprung?
Well now that spring's here, tis time to do the yearly tradition of sprucing yourself up, heading into your local town and trying to spread your seed w/ as many ladies as you can, similar to what rabbits do except be more human about it. :P
