Glossy buttons on windows ce/windows mobile?
Hello everyone,
I'm not confortable with .net for mobile devices yet, i'v been trying to mess arround with my own pda, playing with some forms and few controls, nothing very serious. But one thing i'v noticed, .net3.5 mobile controls do not look as good as it's relatives in .net 3.5 framework.
Does anyone knows about controls that can be used (free ones only) so the applications look better? Buttons, labels, textboxes, etc
Thanks

Indeed, excellent work! Are there any other examples that i may read?

I always assumed the "flat look" controls were meant to save on memory, CPU cycles, rendering time, and to give a consistent look and feel to applications. I think it depends on your purpose and market. Kids seem to prefer shiny candy over function.

The others that I know aren't free.
You can always design your own button, and implement a picture box to act as a button.

So did I, but we have found with some of our customers, that the iPhone look and feel has raised the bar. It may be a case of 'style over substance' but if the customer wants it....

Couldn't agree more but as pete says, iphone raised the level a bit furder. Ofcourse speed is crucial in mobile
applications but why not making those applications to look a bit better?
In my case, it's not for any market purpose, it's just for personal using, just for testing, just for fun. At least
for now. That was why i asked for free examples/controls. So i could learn and practice a little bit.
But just in case in a future i decide to build comercial applications, which controls should i consider to buy?

Commercially, Resco tools are great. Mirabyte and Bee4Mobile also have some great looking controls.
