I was just wondering, with all these earthquakes, tsunamis and stuff, what could we actually do to help? You know, as computer programmer. What can we bring in?
Because, being a student, I don't know what we could do to help.

Keep up the inflation.... :bigyello:
Don't worry about it.
There's 6 Billion people on this planet.
Even if you are a truly talented individual and are more capable than 99.9% of the rest of human society, there's still 6 million people more capable than you to take care of it.
They have resources too. Stuff you don't have - like fleets of helicopters, or Charles Bronson moves, a propagandist edge like Oprah, or organizing abilities such that put your daily routine to shame.
Naw, you just sit back down at that desk, and worry about yourself for now - as you said - you're just student, you need to focus on helping yourself first, then worry about others. We don't need those capable people worrying about you as well.
Nemaroller pretty much summed it up. If you want to help directly then you'd need to aproach some of the organisations to see if they've got any volunteer work available but I doubt it'll be coding work (I imagine they outsource that). Other than that the best thing you can do is study hard, get a good, well-paid job and then be generous.
Or you could take an example from my state: Get a bunch of followers and try to take some kids out of the country without even attempting to get legal papers.
Damn you need legal papers for that ? there goes my adopt a Haitian orphan business down the drain !Quote:
