Okay, I have noticed that you are a very good C/C++ programmer.

How long did it take you to get where you are today.
The reason why im asking it I cant seem to advance anymore and Im so frustrated.

I know Im not reading as much as I should, but is that the key?

I got here since I've been at this since I was 12...5 years and there are still things I'm learning...it's not an easy road by any means.

Reading definitely helps, but it's not the final solution. You need to put in the time just playing around, even if you make a program that just adds two numbers and displays them. You could then make a class that adds numbers and displays them. Take any simple problem and make it a bit more complicated to play with the advanced features.

When I was learning VB I was well pleased when I managed to write a program that displayed the current value of a slider bar :) So just think how pleased you'll feel when you do that in C++ :D

Parksie is right. Sure, I am not on a level even close to him on most C++ things. But to get to level I am at now took a lot of projects that didnt do anything really. I looked in my test directory the other day and there is about 50 projects that I tried to do things with, that never really amounted to anything. Like I saw my first hello world console project, and my math project, where I tired to master all the basic math functions. Programming is alot of trail and error. Mostly error :)

You can read stuff all you want, all day long, but until you put it to any kind of use, it is worthless. Its like these people that goto these MSCD and MSCSE classes and learn all this paper stuff. Then they get to the real world with no hands on experience and they are lost and worthless.

Like Parksie said just make projects that help you learn. Dont try to make this great high and mighty project until you learn some real basic stuff.

I love programming and all but Im realizing to make that 100k a year salary I have to be good. :)

Soooo since saying that I guess I will lock myself in a room for a couple of months and just read / program.
