Have you noticed that all the hairs around there point inwards? It's the same trick used by some carnivorous plants. Basically, your belly button is an alternative mouth that you were using when you were a baby, and it has been hungry ever since. Try sticking some ants in there and see what happens. Just be careful that your belly button doesn't trap your fly.
