XP LITE? Other programs like it?
I don't want to reinstall so NLITE is out of the question but ran across this XPLITE program that looks nice.
It will streamline XP by allowing you to delete unneeded items.
I'll probably end up buying it but 39 bucks seems a bit steep for what it does -- are there any other programs anyone knows about that will do the same thing?
Thanks.
Re: XP LITE? Other programs like it?
Anyone familiar with XPLITE?
Looks like the free trial version is for individual use and fully functional?
Re: XP LITE? Other programs like it?
any particular reason why you think xplite would work where nlite wouldn't?
xp already lets you delete unneeded items after you're installed. These programs are only useful for fresh installs.
Re: XP LITE? Other programs like it?
actually XPlite is post install -- nlite is before.
not so sure it's worth it anyway, I may just go through and start deleting files myself just to see.

For that money you could get a small HDD or a stick of ram instead
Re: XP LITE? Other programs like it?
XPLite is very good for post installation but I still recommend Nlite. Three Main Reasons
1) You need to configure just once how your Windows should look like and burn it into a DVD. That way you don't need to make any changes every time you install Windows.
2) Saves Time
3) The biggest advantage is that it is Free!!!
Or better still keep both so that in the future if you want to make a minor change you can use XPLite
Yes, the Trial version is functional but lacks most of the important features. If you register then you get all these :D
# Nearly 100 optional components!
# Link XPlite to our component database (coming)
# Online one-to-one technical support
# Beta test new products
# Free Upgrades
# Return Customer Discount pricing
# Multi Seat, multi user licenses
In my opinion you should stick you Nlite... but then it is entirely my opinion ;)
