[RESOLVED] Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
Hello All
Hope I am not being a pest by suggesting things very often...
Sometimes when you submit your post, you notice that you have missed the code tags (usually happens when you are typing directly in the quick reply and forget to add tags)
Now if you press edit, you will notice that the code tags are not there (see image) ... and the only way to put them is go into the advanced mode....
Would be possible to just have the 4 code tags in the quick edit box?
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
If you are talking about that actual [code][/code] tags they're there when I do it. Even if they're not you could always type them in manually or use this forum tool.

It's not there as you can see it in the pic I uploaded above...

use this forum tool.
I downloaded the tool and installed it... I went into quick edit and selected text and right clicked but I don't get the menu as shown in the 1st post in that link... I am using FFox.
Am I doing it correctly?
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
It's probably a FireFox issue.

And not a coding issue?
Edit: The shortcut menu works in IE

I don't see it in IE
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
What I'm saying is that people have mentioned before that the "forum tool" doesn't work with FireFox and I can't do anything about that. try the code tags with IE and I bet it works. It may well be that some change could be made to the code tag code to support FireFox but I can't do that.
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
Ah a cross post... I was edting while you posted :)
I get your point...
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box

Same here! I'm using version 3.5.30729 of Fire Fox.
@ Sid which version of Fire Fox are you using?
@ Brad,
Maybe only admins and mods can only see those buttons outside of advanced posting mode? Like Sid I don't get the code tag buttons in quick edit view either. However, as stated above I see the code tags in the edit post box just fine.
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
I think, there is some confusion here....
@Brad: I can see the Code and VBCode buttons in the "Quick Reply". However, I don't see it in "Quick Edit" (Please refer to image in post 1)
@NW: 3.5.3
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
Hey,
Agreed, while in "Quick Edit" Mode, the Code and VBCode buttons are not available.

Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
Ahhh... Correct - Quick Edit doesn't have the buttons.
In this case, I'll fall back to what was stated earlier - that the quick edit box is for minimal (quick) posts and not full fledged posts. As such, it only has a few buttons. I suggest either using the more standard/advanced edit boxes, or simply typing the tags into your message.
Brad!
Re: Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
If you're using firefox, there's an addin called BBCodeXtra that lets you add tags and a lot more than that. It works on all vBulletin forums.

Now that is a nice find!!
Question is, is it enough to bring me back to FF, I have been happily using Chrome for a while now :)

Re: [RESOLVED] Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
Chrome's been out for a while, but I haven't noticed any development for it, other than themes. These themes change the color scheme of the browser and pimp it up with different images in the background.
The other add on I noticed was GreaseMetal, which supposedly works like GreaseMonkey on Firefox.
Re: [RESOLVED] Code Tags in Quick Edit Box
Hey,
Chrome is being actively developed, in fact I have the development channel installed. In addition to the themes that you mentioned, there is add-in support and bookmark synchronization to name a couple.
