I have bought a Null-Modem Cable. Inside that, ther are 25(!) cables in all colors. I have cut the cable, and I want to know what color what does.
Does anybody know that, or a site from where I can get that information?
Thank you.

Wasn't it better to get the schematic for the cable, instead of wasing money on something you would cut up any way?? :D
It costed only 5$.
So, do you know where I can get the information from?
Ok! Just kidding anyway! :p
Have you tried the manufacturers homepage, or altavista, search for cable schematics or something like that! :)
I have found some schematics, but not what colors the cables have.
I must admit, that I don't know much about cables...:(
But I'm sure the schematics with wire colors are out there! :)
Good luck! :)
Colors have no importance to any cable! For that matter, they could all be the same color.
The point is - it's what pin on one end goes to what pin on the other end.
If you wouldn't have foolishly cut the cable you could have done a continuity check
on the pins and found out what goes where.
Somewhere I have a pinout for that type of cable, but it is probably at work.
When I find it, i'll post it
does this help
Code:pin 1 (GND) goes to pin 1 (GND)
pin 2 (TD) goes to pin 3 (RD)
pin 3 (RD) goes to pin 2 (TD)
pin 4 (RTS) goes to pin 5 (CTS)
pin 5 (CTS) goes to pin 4 (RTS)
pin 6 (DSR) goes to pin 6 (DSR)
pin 7 (GND) goes to pin 7 (GND)
pin 8 (DCD) goes to pin 20 (DTR)
pin 20 (DTR) goes to pin 8 (DCD)
Thank you.
I have bought the cable to cut it.
I don't use the cable to communicate with a modem, I want to control LED's and some other stuff, so I have to know what colors the Data Bit Cables have.
I have found out what colors the Data Bit Cables have, but I still don't know what the others do.
Ok here is a site which will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about port pinouts.
