HI guys,
I was wondering if anyone has made the transition into freelance work? If so how is the best way to go about doing this?

HI guys,
I was wondering if anyone has made the transition into freelance work? If so how is the best way to go about doing this?
Where are you based?
There is no real answer to this however i'll explain what I did; I worked full time for a number of agency's who used freelancers and basically this allowed me to build up a list of contacts who would pass overflow work and recommend me once you get into the 'circuit' things should remain constant (Obv depending on market conditions). I now have a steady stream of work in fact I've been freelancing solid for the last 8 Months!
So in summary its all about who you know and the contacts you have. Depending where you are based I'd write off the online freelance sites unless you fancy working for peanuts.

Hey,
You might also want to take a look at the "Freelance Jobs" link at the top of the page.
Here is the direct link:

that site sucks, its even worse than rentacoder and elance. There's like no open projects or anything. I found two in the VB section.
Hey,
The site is still in it's infancy, so I certainly wouldn't go as far as to says it sucks!!
Gary
it needs a lot of work.....
I am sure it will get it.
I only started in May, you can see the thread that launched it here:

I am sure that they would welcome any feedback.
