From imdb, "The hopes and dreams of four ambitious people are shattered when their drug addictions begin spiraling out of control."
What exactly gave you the impression that it would be an upbeat, happy go lucky movie?
For future reference, 'Mary Poppins' contains no nudity, drug abuse or violence. Avoid.
Makes me think of the movie Leaving Las Vegas. It won a Golden Globe for best motion picture back in 1995 and I thought it was terrible. Some of the movies that many people think are great other people think are trash. So there might be someone out there that came away from Requiem For A Dream and felt, "man that was a terrific movie. I'm so glad I saw that."
@Arrow: Yeah I read that, but I never thought for a moment that "spiraling out of control" meant that my mind will go "spiraling out of control"
@Bonker: It's the 1st movie of this type which I have watched... Had I known earlier that I would be depressed, I wouldn't have watched it... ;)
Has anyone seen this movie yet????? I am sure it is an old movie...
We where shown that film in school, sex scenes and all it was a substitute teacher though. I recommend everyone check out Adam & Paul http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0419420/
It is a week in the life of two heroin junkies from Dublin. The scary thing is anyone who has been to Dublin will see how realistic the portrayal of Adam & Paul are even the funny bits are on the mark although all in all it can stop and make you think about how destructive heroin really is on a person.
Nah, I don't need any more of that stuff!!!! I am through with these kind of movies...
I am recovering from that depression eventually... It is still there at the back of my mind though.... I am sure, I will get over it in a day or two...
Your missing a great film!
I've never seen it, but I have seen shawshank redemption (for a class back in highschool). That movie has very high reviews, but I hated it. It made me feel sick and depressed.
Arrow: shawshank redemption is a nice movie... And it has a happy ending... :) Not that all movies should have happy ending but I guess the RFAD should have been handled much more delicately... I wouldn't recommend anyone seeing that movie.. esp teenagers...
I am not surprised, that move has got to be one of the most depressing and messed up films i have watched, i mean it starts going down hill (for the characters) picks up speed, and then they crash into an stupid almighty mess at the end. And that Guys Arm is just gross.Quote:

Funny things is i was actually quite enjoying the film until the ending, i have watched lots of films but few have left me in a state of shock over the ending like that film, you keep waiting for something remotely good to happen to someone, anyone !!
To Counter Act it what you need to do know is go and watch Bambi or something :0)
mendhak, zaza and I once watched watched a film that was meant to be a depressing drugs film. However, it actually turned out to be rather funny thanks to a scene where some guys mate was dying from a gun shot wound and as wimping "noooon, noooo, nooooooooo, nooooooooo, noooon, nooooo" :afrog:
I am glad that I finally over it...
I countered it with "American Haunting"
I am no longer depressed and I am back to my self again....
Have you seen Requiem For A Dream ?, the only other film that i have watched that also made me feel vaguely ill at the end of it was 'Old Boy'.Quote:

I agree with whoever said Leaving Las Vegas is a bag of sh*t. Saw it the other day... and it makes me stand by my theory that almost every film that gets lots of awards and critical praise should be avoided.
It has Nicholas Cage in it, ergo crap.
(Actually "Gone in 60 Seconds" was good but only because of Angelina Jolie on an MV Agusta).
