how do you think this is accomplished?
I am frustrated with the Windows 7 start menu. The Windows people have said that there will no longer be a "classic" start menu available, and to move on. I don't want to. I rather write my own start menu that I can control. I found an application called VistaStartMenu and it seems possible to replace the start menu. I am wondering how it is done though, so I could do something similar with my application. Does anyone have any idea how the developer(s) accomplished this?
Thanks

I'm not sure! However, have you tried installing the VistaStartMenu in Windows7 then running it in compatibility mode?

I haven't tried that. I want less features than the vista start menu application. I would like the barest of bare minimum for my start menu. Basically the "Classic" menu in XP but without the useless things like documents and search on the menu. I really only need the run command, and the program listing, and I guess shutdown.
