I'm infected.

Here follows an email from our "Network Security Officer":

I downloaded a detection tool from McAfee and it also said that the machine was infected, so I downloaded a Removal Tool, rebooted the machine (what seems a hundred times) and ran the detection tool again. Voiala! It's gone! :D

Who needs IT when you can do things yourself! :afrog:

Yes, the doctor said that could be a side affect, but you need to keep taking those pills... otherwise we might have another inappropriate picture moment :eek2:

That is true. I constantly got emails reminding us to patch, but no. I have to be otherwise and not do as I'm told. :rolleyes: (I know... I'm a moron. At least I patched my PC at home about three months ago)

Fortunately no-one had to take a backup. I'm still not allowed back on the network though. For some reason, I'm not allowed to access the network while my laptop is infected. Oddly enough (and this just takes the cake for n00b IT department of the year) if I plug my laptop into a different network point, it works. :afrog: Can't believe it... They just disable network points??? :eek:

Anyway... I now have my AntiVirus installed, all patched for the Conficker worm, and now just waiting for someone to flip a switch somewhere. Oh, the joy of IT. :rolleyes:
