Has anyone watched that laughable new Chris Tarrant game show "The Colour of Money"?
I reckon this game show is 100% fixed and unfair against the contestant. Don't gameshows like this have to submit their logical methods to some sort of gambling authority? And if so doesn't that also mean it's accessible to the public under the Freedom Of Information act of 2000?

The only game shows worth watching are Japanese.

The data protection act states that our data must only be kept with our permission, data can only be used for the purpose of which the organisation stated at time of concent and only authorised personal can access that infromation within the organisation.
The freedom of information allows us to apply to an organisation to disclose any information they hold on us.
I cannot, however, apply to a random company and ask the to disclose any strategies, because that information contains no personal information of mine. The only time this information could be obtained is via a court of law during legal proceedings.

The Data Protection act applies to companies. Companies are not supposed to hold data on you without your consent (although we all know they do, otherwise i wouldn't get phone calls of companies i don't know asking if am coming to the end of my phone contract grrhh *!"£$%^&), and must show you any data they hold on you if you request it. They are also supposed to delete any data they hold on you if you request it.
The Freedom of Information Act is concerning information held by Public authorities !
Here is a snippet from the very beginning of the FOI Act document
"General right of access to information held by public authorities
(1)Any person making a request for information to a public authority is entitled—
(a)to be informed in writing by the public authority whether it holds information of the description specified in the request, and
(b)if that is the case, to have that information communicated to him."
I wonder if this act is available everywhere...
Well i think a large number of countries have some form of the Act including the US, Australia and South Africa, although Sweden were the first i think.
In the UK because we are subject to European law our Government & Public Agencies now have to follow much more stringent laws as to the ease of access. This means Government departments aren't allowed to just sit on requests any more, they have to show they are complying with requests or they can be charged with a criminal offence.
There are still some areas which have exemptions, but they are limited and have to tell us what they are.
I couldn't say how the Act works in your country but ...
