[w00t] I did it!
I figured out how to use star-charts for the first time, and on Friday evening I managed to see Saturn (complete with rings) through my telescope. :D
Any other astronomers here that could give me pointers at what I can look at next? I don't have a set of binoculars, so I'm just pointing at what I can see with me eyes.
I've been trying to see comet Lulin now since mendhak started his thread about it a while ago, though I would only be able to see it around the 22'nd, seeing as I'm in the southern hemisphere, and that I have massive trees blocking just about every single observation angle. I recall reading that Lulin will be close to Saturn between 21 and 24 Feb, so this will be my "window of opportunity".

What telescope do you have? I'm interested in getting a better one :).

I've got some cheap 700mm x 50mm refractor telescope. Baught it for R700 (around 50 GBP / 70 USD) at a local camera shop. I shall post pictures when I get home.
I'm also planning to upgrade to the Sky-Watcher Explorer-130P SupaTrak. One day when I have enough money. :o

Great. I tried to look at comet Lulin last night, and all I see is a tiny green dot. :( And I didn't even see the Four Moons crossing Saturn's face on Tuesday, because as luck would have it, IT WAS OVERCAST!

How did you see the comet if it was overcast?
