[RESOLVED] Good DVD writing Software
I am already using two softwares, Easy DVD Creater and Nero 9 but I want a software which will compress 4 movies in 1 DVD. the above 2 lets me write 4 movies at one go but doesn't compress it and hence, I cannot write to a 4gb DVD.
Any suggestions...
Re: Good DVD writing Software
try dvdshrink It's free and it lets you select compression.
Re: Good DVD writing Software
I use PowerISO: http://www.poweriso.com/
You can compress files with PowerISO! However, the free version only allows up to 300 MB.
Edit:
You can buy a license for $29.95 (US).
Re: Good DVD writing Software
If I get a free version nothing like it :) but I am ready to buy a licensed version as well. Let me check both of them out and get back to you...
Re: Good DVD writing Software
CDBurnerXP, does the job.

Re: Good DVD writing Software
I couldn't find anything on compression for CDBurnerXP
Here is what I am trying to do... I have a movie which is 716 mb which when converted to VOB becomes 2.14 gb (including audio_ts and video_ts). So if I have 4 movies which approximately the same size (700 mb each) how do I compress all 4 movies in one 4gb dvd?
I have a DVD which has 5 movies in one 4gb dvd which when copied to harddisk bloats to approx 7gb???
How do i go about it....
Re: Good DVD writing Software
Are these movies in avi format? If so, leave them as is and burn them to DVD as data... Most dvd players nowadays are DivX certified. If you don't have a dvd player that can play avi files, get one... I don't know how much it sells in your country but here in the US, you can get one for roughly 40 USD. Consider all the time, power and media you will save for not having to do avi-dvd conversions, the $40 spending is really worth it.

When it "bloats" to 7gb, are you sure it's not a 9gb (dual layer) dvd?
Re: Good DVD writing Software
keep in mind that when you compress them with programs such as dvdshrink, you are going to have the quality of the video suffer. DVD players are set to play mpeg2 and the only way to make mpeg2 files smaller is leave out information.

Thanks for your replies...
stanav: No I don't want that option
JuggaloBrotha: No it's not
Lord: But I have seen many 4gb DVD's in the market which has 4 movies in it and that too of amazing picture quality...
Re: Good DVD writing Software
To make a multi-movie dvd (in other words, an extra long play dvd instead of the 240 min standard play time), you need to convert your movies to MPEG-1 and use a DVD authoring software that have the option not to convert video to MEPG-2 to create your DVD. I used to use Ulead Movie Factory (I don't remember the exact name, but it's something along that line...). The quality is comparable to that of VHS or VCD.
Re: Good DVD writing Software
Let me check on that as well... Thanks for the tip...
BTW I am very much impressed with DVD Santa... I will be testing it tomorrow and I will update the results here...

you can usually shrink the file size by up to 40 - 50 percent and not even see a difference. This is what dvd shrink is designed for. You can even set different compressions for each individual part of a dvd.

You mean to say that I can Shrink at least two 4gb DVD movies in one 4gb DVD?
Re: Good DVD writing Software
in practice, the movie on a dvd is rarely that big anyway, and yes you can. Plus it's got a reauthor function where you can replace features you don't like with still-frame pictures, etc. Just try the program already!

The next problem is not so easy. Most DVD video titles are simply too large to fit, without modification, onto a single recordable DVD-R disk. DVDShrink overcomes this problem by compressing or "shrinking" the data from your original DVD.
DVDShrink also allows you to re-author your DVD. You can make your own compilation from one or more source DVDs, or select only the parts of a DVD which you intend to view, thus preserving more space on your backup for the highest quality viewing.
Re: Good DVD writing Software
Plus it is free
Ok let me try that....
Re: Good DVD writing Software
Finally today was a holiday and I could experiment with dvdshrink and guess what!!!! I managed to shrink 3 movies in 1 Disk without compromising the quality.
@Lord orwell: thanks a ton :thumb:
@Everyone: Thanks for your contribution in this post
