Startup Registry Files
ok here is my dilema...
i recently bought a 1TB Maxtor Shared Storage 2 NAS drive...i have 2 computers, one a new Toshiba A300/Bla Bla laptop with Vista and the other a crappy reasonably ****** (200Gb almost full) slow thing with XP....
They are both networked through the MSS and all files and folders are through there.....
This is a cheap networking solution i have so far found really handy
all of the my documents, music, favourites etc (except appdata) are redirected to this drive through the registry files in (HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Explorer/User Shell Folders). They are to either the Z: drive or Y: drive depending on what it is
The only problem is that one of the computers is a laptop which means it is portable. so when i move it to the other side of the city and away from my wireless connection i can no longer connect to the MSS..
i have all of the Important MSS files on the laptop too (its got a big HDD) so that when i go places i can have it with me wherever i go...
but the problem is that it isnt "easily" accesible through the vista start menu so i was wondering with the help of someone whether they could make a startup exe so that u can click the "AT HOME" or "NOT AT HOME" button which runs the already exported registry file for the specific folders.... and only have the exe come up if it detects a "disconnected network drive"...Much appreciated.......
