Should i learn perl or php?
There's also ASP, which is my personal favourite....
you should learn PHP......... perl sucks, and so does ASP......
PHP works great on any platform.... ASP works great on windows...... and chilliasp(for apache on linux) sucks..
:) I had a nagging feeling that you'd be drawn into this thread!!! :)
And before I even entered the post, I knew you were going to recomend ASP..... :)
:D
What are the pros and cons of going PHP or ASP?
ASP's advantage : It is COM Based
ASP's Disadvantage : It is COM Based.
The advantage is that a lot of Coding can be saved
by resorting to COM Interface. The Disadvantage is
that Because of this there is Inherent delay and Inefficiency.
PHP disadvantage : lack of Interaction with Business
components already being in use with a company (Because mostly they are Windows based)
PHP advantage : Many ...Ask dennis.
Back to TOPIC :
Ok.. I cannot actually comment on this..
Because I neither know PHP nor PERL.
But Most guys who know both PHP and PERL
pick PERL.
Meet Matthew Keller Who specializes in server technologies, with bias towards Linux, Solaris and the Apache Web server.
What Would he Pick ?

I'd use both
PHP for server-side pages which are mainly HTML, and Perl when they're mainly created.
Perl is also a lot faster, and the syntax of both is pretty similar.
Neat feature, you can use PerlScript in ASP :D
3 Questions:
1) What else can you use for asp pages rather than IIS/PWS/Any other MS thing? Dennis mentioned chilli ASP. Platform does not matter. Preferably windows or linux. And maybe some links if possible :).
2) I am running IIS5 (win2k obviously), how can i make PHP the default server scripting language instead of ASP
3) How can i make JSP the default server scripting language under IIS5?
I know I just asked a mouthful, but any help would be appreciated!
Thanks A LOT.
what do you mean default?
they'll all execute fine if you give the appropriate extension. And of course, if you installed it correctly.
Ok, where do i get the latest version of php for windows?
I would Recommend This package for the absolute beginner :
