obtain wave peaks (like on a Mixer) on VB

Hello all.

How can I get the volume peaks of the wave device?

meaning - not the volume level, but the peaks - like what's shown next to the wave volume on Windows' Mixer - those green-red colors.

If anyone knows how to show and/or apply a equalizer I'ld like to know. Aaron Young maybe? :)
