Hi All,
I have Windows XP at home. I wish to design a website of my own. Regarding this I have the following obstacles. Please try to help.
1. I want to install PHP latest version.
2. I want to configure IIS from my machine with the PHP.
3. I want to get connected with the online version of MySQL.
4. I want to design and upload my site in the internet. I would like to get it free. Is there anyway I can do it ?
Please help me to find the result. Thanks a lot in advance.
Setting up your own server enviroment in your home may not be the safest thing to do. This tutorial should help you set up PHP with IIS.
As for free, nothing is free. You are going to need a domain name, which run around $10/year. Also, if you are going to be hosting the site from your house, you run in the the problem of slow connection. You will experience very slow page views.
I would suggest finding a host that has a cheap $5 hosting plan, and comes with a free domain for a year. That is probably your best option.
