[RESOLVED] Can't open EXE's!

I've just noticed that any EXE I download off the net, when I double click on it to open nothing happens :eek: No error message is displayed, I get an hour glass for about 1 second and then it disappears.

Any EXE's already on my computer run fine, it's just ones I've D/L. I know the EXE's run because I've downloaded them on my wifes computer and they run fine.

I've done a AVG virus and spybot scan but both turned up negative.

Has anyone else had this issue in the past but more importantly does anyone know how to fix it? :(

Not sure if this was the fix but uninstalled some unusual items at C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files, rebooted and now can open the EXE's I'd downloaded :thumb:

What kind of "usual items"?

Perhaps other folks should look around and see if they are present on their machine as well.

I can't remember the exact names but I remember uninstalling all items that had a status of 'Damaged'.
