ClickOnce publish version and assembly version?

Hello!

I'm using C# 2008, but I suppose that this applies to all .NET languages...

My question is simple: why the ClickOne publish version and the assembly version are different? I can set the first in the project properties and the second in the AssemblyInfo.cs file. I don't understand the logic of this differentiation. It's possible that when one is set the second is updated automatically so they are both the same?

ClickOnce installers don't necessarily just deploy a single assembly. They can deploy multiple assemblies and other files too. It's quite possible to change your installer, thereby requiring a change to the installer version, without changing anything about any assemblies that may be deployed by it. Each assembly is just one part of the deployment package.
