Program to ghost hard drive
I have just reinstalled Windows Vista for the 4th time this month, its getting a little annoying now.
I have a RAID0 drive, I do not want to use Norton Ghost, but I would like to make an image of the entire drive, just so in the future I can reinstate it, problem solved.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Re: Program to ghost hard drive
Have you tried Acronis True Image? Also, although I'm not 100% sure on this, not all cloning software supports anything other than a simple volume. Meaning, RAIDs are not doable. I could be wrong...
Re: Program to ghost hard drive
I think if it is a MOBO raid then ghosting works, if it is Software Raid then ghosting doesn't work.
Re: Program to ghost hard drive
There cetainly are alternatives to Norton Ghost, but I'm wondering why you don't want to use it. I've used it countless times without any problems at all.
Re: Program to ghost hard drive
the backup program that comes with vista has a "full system backup" option which backs up system files as well as system settings. Don't knock the simple route until you try it.
Re: Program to ghost hard drive
Acronis True Image is my favorite. You can create an image in Windows (instead of having to reboot in DOS mode), plus it supports a wide range of media (CD-R, DVD-R, network shares, USB drives...) and you can also create a bootable image disc. To me, this is the most useful feature since I can create a bootable disc and put the entire image on one DVD-R.
