[RESOLVED] Vista partition buggered and cannot repair via Installation CD
I've been wrestling with my PC for these past couple of weeks, trying to get 64bit Vista trial (installation disc w/o activation) and Linux 64 bit as well. Then I eventually got fed up of the downsides to me having Vista 64bit (need to search for decent 64 bit drivers, and some of my 32bit programs never worked). So I installed Vista x32 and all is pretty much bliss. Not really when I compare it to my old PC, but nevertheless, it is still pretty much bliss...
Anyways, I wanted to have a 64bit Linux on my PC dualbooting and well... I did, but it completely messed up my Vista installation with the winload.exe (the usual, I am familiar to this problem). So I pop in my Vista CD, get it to boot, does the whole "Loading Drivers..." bar and the Vista loading screen, and then goes completely blank. Nothing loads or anything.
And now I realised I have shot myself in the foot because (what I'm guessing is out of sheer panic) I have reformatted the Linux partitions under an Extended partition to see if Vista would like it, and lo-and-behold, the same goddamned error message.
Can anyone please help? OK, this installation is fairly new and doesn't really have anything properly worthy of backup (lots of game demos from Steam), but I would like to see if I can get my Vista back as opposed to the 'other' option...
EDIT: I had no choice but to reinstall.

You may as well just reformat the lot you only annoying yourself otherwise.

I've already did that and saved myself the headache. Thanks anyways.
Re: [RESOLVED] Vista partition buggered and cannot repair via Installation CD
I have had similar problems and the disk is absolutely useless for repairing. Microsoft went on about how good it was as it was an actual OS on the disk, but it doesn't count for nothing. Useless company.
Re: [RESOLVED] Vista partition buggered and cannot repair via Installation CD
It actually turned out that I had RAID drivers that the disc couldn't support.
Re: [RESOLVED] Vista partition buggered and cannot repair via Installation CD
that's the problem with those disks. They NEVER have raid drivers.
