Some websites say the first built was invented by alan cooper.
Edit:
So is this correct ?
Dartmouth Basic was character cell based. It was not visual. The core of visual basic is it's GUI (Graphic user Interface).
That article completely skipped Microsoft's GW-BASIC and QBasic. Those were Microsoft's first versions of Basic that were released with MS-DOS, and was probably the real reason that QuickBasic started with version 2.0. Of course, there is also RealBasic, DarkBasic, and probably dozens of other Basic Languages out there. Otherwise, it was an interesting history; if not a little bit of a slam on programmers who prefer basic (like me), claiming we were too lazy to learn Fortran.
For what it is worth to that article's author; I can ride the C++ high horse, but I still prefer VB6 best of all.
Thanx guys
How was visual basic built from scratch ? Was it built by alan Cooper back in 1987 if so what program was used to built Visual basic from scratch ?
Alan Cooper is "referred" to as the "Father Of Visual Basic" but that does not mean he single handly wrote it.
A great deal of VB is written in C
