[Serious] Finding People
Basically, i was separated from most of my family at age 8 and i want to try to find all of my (favorite) relatives, and most of them are under the age of 18, so i cant just do a White Pages search.
Does anyone know of some kind of resource i can use for finding minors? I have tried Myspace but nothing.
Thanks

Re: [Serious] Finding People
http://www.freeality.com/finde.htm seems to have several tools for doing so. I saw an article on Digg that I can't find again but it listed quite a few tools for finding people.
Though, honestly, it's kind of difficult to find people especially minors.

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Are there government services in the US for situations like these?

Re: [Serious] Finding People
You might want to try some of those family tree or geneology sites.

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Private Detective an option?

Re: [Serious] Finding People
i tried those, but it just goes back. it doesn't show like family in my generation.

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Common school you went to?
Some sports club you know they went to?
Simply go to whatever town they live in and ask around?
Check your pants? (sorry)
You are probably not going to find an internet based solution to this.

Re: [Serious] Finding People

Re: [Serious] Finding People
There is a reason why it is hard to find under 18's. I would start by looking for the parents or guardians and get in contact with them. In any case you should seek the permissions of the parents or guardians before you get back in contact as it could save a lot of bother in the future.

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Wait a couple years and then search on facebook.

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Are you kidding me, it only costs you like $20 and supposedly you can get everything you ever wanted to know about them. Phone numbers, houses they live (and lived in), cars, boats, and some other information. Those services even claim a money back guarantee that if the person they find isn't the right one, they will look again.
I have not tried any of those services personally, but they are all over the place. Pay with a virtual paypal debit card, in case they decided to charge more than they should or steal your debit card.

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Have you go an example of such a service. Surely there are rules that prohibit the tracing of minors?

I don't know if they can find minors, but he defiantly can use it to find their parents.

I believe https://www.intelius.com is one of the more popular ones.
Very interesting if you ask me. If I have someone's number or know their name I can find out everything I ever wanted to know about them.
Hey RobDog whats your real name? ;)

You didn't seriously think stealing someone's identity was free did you?

Well there should be some where that the information on people is Public knowledge and freely available. In other words where do they ge their lists from?

Re: [Serious] Finding People
I can see the problem with making all this information public, though it would be quite cool having a "global index" of people.
The only thing that I can think of:
Keep a watch on Facebook and Myspace.

well one problem is, if i search for their name, "John Doe", there are about 10 pages of results.
Also i am not sure if they have changed their names or not...

Re: [Serious] Finding People
A family of dClamps? Couldn't you just try the local HomeDepot?
Many of the simple solutions will not work very well for young folks, because they haven't done enough to show up much on searches. It would be much easier to try to find adults.

You mention Texas. Do you know where it Texas?

No i dont... The last time i talked to them was on the phone like 5 years ago and they lived in Texas with my aunt... Now, my cousins live with my aunt and uncle, who is also their aunt and uncle. Not their parents.
I dont remember my aunt/uncles names but i would know them if i saw the names... Maybe some kind of record with family trees and not one of those Family tree generator sites...
I am like drawing a blank on all my relatives names... probably because i have not talked about them in a while...

Re: [Serious] Finding People
Well if you know the city your aunt and uncle live in you could try placing a personal ad in a local newspaper asking them to contact you.

never thought about that... i will have to do some research.
I have a friend who is in realestate (spelled wrong?) and withen the same time frame (5 years ago) she reunited me with my half brother and half sister (who are half/half to each other as well) and we all have never met. She has some kind of software where she can search a name and get all the address' and phone numbers that people have had.
I will have to contact her...
 thanks Martin
