I've got a 3 year old nw8240 - it's a great machine.
Runs MS SQL 2000 Developers edition, SQL 2005 Express.
Loaded with VB6, VS2003, VS2005
and runs IIS for web development
I can't think of anything else I could ask this laptop to do ;)
Backs up to a maxtor terabyte external drive everyday...
I have an IBM Lenovo T60 series.
It may cost a bit more than other brands but it is really very well built machine and I run Visual Studio 6, 2005, 2008, SQL Server and even Oracle off of it.
It is easy to recommend and apparently you can have it for a darn good price.
Will you be playing games too?Quote:

You need the e-mail only/web world workstation...
You need a development laptop - since development can happen anywhere - anytime...
You need a multi-media box - ours is video editing, photoshop - all that great image stuff...
And a server in the middle of it all!
Cool, when can I expect to receive those systems from you? You are very generous :D
You can consolidate the workstation of web/email with the multimedia box so only 3 systems is really needed.
When I get my laptop it will be as powerful as i can afford and not have any multimedia programs on it.
Give me your ssn, home phone, mother's maiden name - and they will be shipped within a day!
The adobe products are so heavy and the video-processing needs are so stringent that I don't like my image-processing box to see the outside world!
For those same reasons, a gamer wont be having VS on their system either. They are resource hogs and they want them all to be alocated for their games
Indian giver :p You said you were going to give them to me. :(
:D
What about game programmers ;)Quote:

Nice specs, although the screen is a little small for me.Quote:

Or at least a Widescreen
Why not I am also human being ;)Quote:

And when on-the-move I still have a widescreen, hate the keyboard tought (this goes for any laptop). :)
If anyone's looking for multimedia only laptop I would recommend Toshiba (model will depend on the budget).
Thanks all
