[RESOLVED] IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
All of a sudden my find window started to dock with my immediate window or my watch window. I know I saw a fix for this before but that was a very long time ago. There was a way to reset the find window to locate itself elsewhere (free).
How do you do this?
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Maybe I don't understand the Q. But isn't that under Options, Tools, Docking[tab] ?
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
No, The find window is not there... Take a look.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Cant you just undock it by dragging it by its caption bar? Ther are no settings for controlling the find window's docking.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
right, and I don't think its supposed to be dockable? at least I can't dock the find/replace dialog.
Did you ever make a backup of your VB registry settings, I think it holds all that info.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
No, I can't undock it. That's the whole problem. I drag it to a new location then exit the find, when I choose find again it re-docks...
I know it's not supposed to be dockable but yet it is... No one backs up on set of registry settings. It's all or nothing.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
after a little testing the only thing i can say about the positioning of the find window is it tries not to be over the module it is searching (or the the current code window)
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Yes, I understand that but this is not what is happening or I would not be asking... This has happened before and there is a setting in the IDE (as I remember) that you can reset and it will revert back to normal.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Is the Immediate window set to be docked?
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Yes, as well as all the other windows...
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Well I thought it might be the "fault" of the Immediate window but I just checked and it's not.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Might be alot easier to just reinstall VB.
Re: IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
I found the solution...???? or would it be better to say what causes the problem?
If you make your Immediate window (or any other window at the bottom of the screen) large enough for the find window to fit it will automatically dock there. If you do not it will free float...
Strange behavior isn't it?
Re: [RESOLVED] IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
I cant replicate the issue. :(
:D
Re: [RESOLVED] IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
If your Immediate windows is at the bottom of the screen, Drag it open (by the caption bar) large enough for the find window to fit inside of it. Open the find window then do a find it should dock with the immediate window... At least here it does.
Re: [RESOLVED] IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Yea I tried that with both the immediate window super large both docked and undocked but the find window doesnt dock into the immediate window either before or after a find is brought up and done.
*run-on sentence*
Something else perhaps is triggering it to see the immediate window as the VB IDE I guess. So what did you do to fix it?
Re: [RESOLVED] IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
I did not actually fix it... I just made my Immediate window smaller than my find window and the find window can't seem to dock so it free floats like it is supposed to...
Re: [RESOLVED] IDE - Find windows docks with immediate or watch window
Well thats still a fix. Thanks for posting back, it will probably help someone else that comes across this thread with the same issue. :thumb:
