Another reason why you should learn the Indian languages
Well...
The recent racial abuse scandal that rocked the second test match between Australia and India shows why it is worthwhile to learn the nittigritties of the national language of India. I am actually surprised to see no threads on the topic here. Jethro, where are you mate? And all those others from down under?
.
Re: Another reason why you should learn the Indian languages
Explain, if you will, why it is worthwhile to learn said nitty-gritties.
Re: Another reason why you should learn the Indian languages
Er, we have to learn Hindi, so that we can understand the "mother related" abuse terms being thrown about by the Indian Cricketers? I am confused as to why we would want to do that?
Re: Another reason why you should learn the Indian languages
Siff I care what any Indian cares to mutter in my direction.

I dont understand why you persons are interested in wasting time talking about racial topics. Are you really enjoying this topic? There are more things to concentrate this world and why spend time in discussing this useless topic...

Isn't the national language of India, English? Or do they have an Indian language as one of the national languages? Othewrise, there are several large dialects in India that can't understand each other.
Re: Another reason why you should learn the Indian languages
India's official languages are Hindi and English, but they do have various regional dialects like you say.

Re: Another reason why you should learn the Indian languages
IIRC, most educated Indians can speak English quite well and you'd expect the national Cricket team to be made up of educated people.
If they're going to make racial slurs towards the Ozzies, wouldn't it make sense to make them in English? There's no point in going through all the trouble of insulting someone if they can't understand that they've been insulted.
