New England Patriots. Will they lose?

Okay, fantasy football season is almost over, and the real playoffs begin.

First, my heart goes out to RobDog888 for the Raiders performance against the Jags this week, but the Raiders are rebuilding, and there is always next year. At least they are not the Miami Dolphins. :-( Go Fins!

So here is the big poll question. Will the Patriots go undefeated?
I sure hope they do. Go 72 Dolphins!

PS. I'm in the SuperBowl next week. I lost Justin Fargas, and I'm starting Dominic Rhodes. Let's hope my team can do it. I'm pumped! This will be my first trip to the SuperBowl! Whooohoooo!

Addendum, I think the Jags will beat the Patriots in the playoffs.

Don't forget football is the team-sport where they kick the ball with their feet, and that ball is round.
That's true for the major part of this world.
Nobody knows why you called that other game "football" since you only kick that ???? (wathever it is, it isn't a ball) in one occasion!

BTW Who cares, Italy won the World Cup'06 (the Real World not only the US), the next Cup will be in 2010. Let's wait and see.

I want to have the soccer vs football debate again, I feel it wasn't fully resolved in any of the 500 previous attempts.

lol, then what should we call our American football sport? Any suggestions?
Or should we rename football to soccer (much better idea), and the US can keep "football"?

I see it's time for another of Homer's History Lessons™

The game Americans call "football" got it's start in the mid-19th century on college campuses mostly in the northeastern US - the schools now known as "Ivy League" - and of course, Ohio. City athletic clubs also took up the sport including one in Montreal which would eventually lead to Canada's slightly different version of the game.

At first there were two distinct forms of the game - a version similar to rugby where the ball was advanced by carrying it, and a soccer-style version where the ball was advanced by kicking it. Since there were no written rules for the game whatever team hosted the game chose which set of rules to play under. This led to much confusion...

In the 1890s the Ivy League schools got together to hammer out a common set of rules in order to eliminate confusion and expand the game's appeal. After much discussion, the rugby-style rules were adopted and the game quickly became very popular in the eastern US. However, the new rules made the game very dangerous and deaths and crippling injuries became quite common. It got so bad that US president Teddy Roosevelt himself demanded the game be tamed or he would introduce a bill in congress to outlaw the sport.

Another football summit was convened and the result was a game much like what we have today. The line of scrimmage was introduced along with down-and-distance rules. Shoulder and hip padding were required to cut down on injuries. Another idea was included that would not take off until the final round of rules changes in the 1920s - the forward pass.

The new rules made the game much safer - too safe as it turned out. The game's popularity began to suffer because of this. By 1920 one final football summit was required to tweak the rules and gave us the modern game we know today. The National Football League was formed not too much later in Canton, Ohio, but the league would have to wait until the 1950s to overtake college football in popularity.

I think the colts have a better chance but if jags play well then it really could go either way.

Hey, your country is supposed to be hosting the next Football/Soccer World Cup!

And so, through some fluke of chance and history, the N.E. Patriots will go down as one of the "best" teams ever; But we know better... they need to win the Super Bowl first. Then we'll think about it.
