[RESOLVED] Link from word to Excel cell
Hi all,
I want to give a link from a word file to excel file that too for a particluar cell in that excel file. The same text will appear in word file also. If i made any correction or changes in that excel file then that same changes will also be affect in the word file also. Is it possible..?
Thanks in advance....
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
You mean have both apps show the same link and updates?
Can you give an example?
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
Hi Rob
I don't want the link in both the file. I need the link only in word file, the excel file will act as a reference for that word file. I took a Particluar cell value and display the text in word file then i have to give the link. If i made changes in Excel file then the same will reflect in word file also tats the thing i want. Sorry Rob right now i haven't any sample with me, one of my client asked me if it is possible or not.?
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
Yes, thats a default action of a link if you set it to update if I remember correctly. How are you adding the link?
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
sorry still i didn't written any code for this. Just i am trying to do with the hyperlink concept, but can't able to complete.
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
It should just be a format issue when you Insert Hyperlink. You can add on the sheet/cell address. I cant remember the correct syntax but if you try a Forums search Im sure you will come across something.
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
Yeah thank you Rob. Sure i'll search....
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
I remember doing this years ago. You just add a link to a excel sheet/cell and the contents of the cell update in Word whenever they are changed in excel.
Re: Link from word to Excel cell
Hi Rob
Somewhat i got the answer, Just i copy the particular cell from Excel file and paste as hyperlink (There is an option provided in Edit menu) in the word document will almost solve this issue.
Anyway thanks....:)
Re: [RESOLVED] Link from word to Excel cell
Ah, found it for Word 2007 as there is no edit menu.
Quote:
Create a hyperlink by copying and pasting from an Excel worksheet
Open the Excel worksheet that you want to link to, and select a cell or range of cells to link to.
Right-click and then click Copy on the shortcut menu.
Open the Word document where you want to add a hyperlink.
On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the Paste arrow, and then click Paste as Hyperlink.
Only thing is that my Paste as hyperlink is disabled for some reason.[/color]
Re: [RESOLVED] Link from word to Excel cell
Sorry Rob, right now i am working with word 2003 only. Me too have the same problem in 2003, when i copy a cell from Excel then press Esc key and then came to word file edit menu after this i can able to see the disabled paste as hyperlink.
Re: [RESOLVED] Link from word to Excel cell
Did you try it on a saved workbook or a temp one? I tried a temp one and was wondering if that was a possible reason.
Re: [RESOLVED] Link from word to Excel cell
Yes i done this in saved Excel and word document. In 2003 for me also it's not working in temp excel file. :-(
